Options: View

You find the keyboard commands under the tab "View". These functions are necessary to observe traffic conditions. Commands are mirror looks and shoulder checks but also e.g. for the look to behind. Press the Return key to repeat the last driving instructor announcement. With  L  you switch the headlights on and off. This is important to journeys at darkness and bad sight.

At "Camera" you define how the visibility conditions shall be during driving. You can select fog or rain, for example. In the setting "Automatic" the 3D Driving-School chooses the right weather for you. This will generally be a sunny day. However, you can choose also other weather settings like "rain" and "snow". Attention: your braking distance during rain and snow also prolongs itself. Without ABS you must drive particularly carefully.

Of course raindrops then will form on your windscreen. Switch on your windscreen-wipers with the key  W . Pressing the key  W  again lets your windscreen-wiper go faster. Pushing  W  three-times wipers will be turned off.

Marking the option "Night" leads to driving in the darkness in every exercise. During the night exercise planned by the program this option, however, isn't alterable. By the way, switching on the headlights is also checked at darkness and stronger fog.

The slider also strengthens the fog effect in the 3D scene. At stronger fog values or in the night all vehicles switch on their headlights. You must switch on the headlights of your vehicle with the  L  key, too. If you go by motorcycle, it is required to switch on the headlights always. Therefore also on the day. Effect of the regulator position "OFF" : in this case the 3D fog effect of the graphics card of your PC is completely turned off. This is necessary for some rare 3D graphics cards which don't support any fog effects. Take into account that the „Default“-button doesn't switch on the fog effect either. After pressing "Default" you must move the slider of the "Automatic" setting to receive a fog effect once more.

The external camera mode F7 places the camera behind your vehicle (so-called "third person"). With an activated option "Night" this can be seen in the following picture.

Pressing the key F7 once more changes back to your interior cockpit (so-called "first person") again.

For practising there are another two special features: :

F8 allows going passively with other cars. Pressing the F8 key again the camera will hop to the next car. In that mode the shoulder check keys Shift + right/left cursor arrow as well as the look to behind with Del-key also will work. But caution: Park your vehicle at a safe space before!

The X key allows the inspection of other traffic lights. To do so, you can turn the traffic lights with the X key towards you.

Since version 4.1 you also carry a road map with compass. Toggling the compass is done with the F4-key. A small white/blue arrow locates your position and driving-direction. The compass allows the orientation in the virtual 3D world. Further description of the navigation keys is done on the page navigation-system.
